The Brewer family originally arrived in Rio Arriba, New Mexico Territory, before 1884 by wagon. Their first home was built in brick they hauled from Illinois. This home was dismantled after realizing it had been built on a flood plain. The bricks were reassembled in Aztec as their store and attached home. Charles and his son, Truman, owned a brick factory as well as built several of the original buildings in Aztec. Charles Brewer was the first mayor of Aztec.

 

Our hope is to provide insight into the daily lives of the pioneering Brewer family. Our intent is to share the photo everyone who is interested in the family and area  around Aztec, New Mexico.
